The next edition of EIBTM 2011 will bring together in the Gran Vía Fira de Barcelona more than 3,100 international suppliers from over 90 countries. It also provides assistance to approximately 8,300 buyers, professionals and journalists from around the world.
The Global Meetings and Events Exhibition (EIBTM) held from 29 November to 1 December, more than 50 training sessions with seminars aimed at specific markets, companies, associations and agencies, and numerous official networking events. This is the international trade fair market leader in the Meetings and Incentives, “in which both buyers and visitors can literally see the world in three days and plan your next meeting, incentive, or international event,” highlighted from Reed Travel Exhibitions, organizers of the event.
“So far we are thrilled with the response to health sector in 2011, and this is a clear reflection of positivism with which the industry sees the EIBTM and the ratification of the importance of communication face to face”, stated the director of Reed Travel Exhibitions for EIBTM, Graham Barnett. This edition offers suppliers and buyers the opportunity to discover new destinations, products and services, establish and develop business contacts, meet industry trends, purchasing decisions, expand professional knowledge and contact with the international community Meetings & Events, among other things.
More business meetings
EIBTM PSA system allows buyers to select their preferences invited exhibitors to set up appointments in order of priority. “Last year we received more preferences and requests for appointments than we organize in six meetings a day,” explained the organizers. Therefore, in this year’s edition has been introduced to enable appointment seventh confirmation of more preferences.
This additional appointment will tighten even further the agenda and, therefore, buyers are advised to plan their time more efficiently under the system to organize more choices and also increased opportunities for business exhibitors at the fair. The Association of Congress and exhibition centres of Galicia create to promote the Business tourism in the Community

The three most important conference centres of the Galician community –A Coruña, Santiago de Compostela and Vigo – have created the Association of Conference centres of Galicia (APCG) in order to promote in the region the sector of the Meetings Tourism to which they give service.
The Association has been created by three Conference centre regarding the community, which are the exhibitions and congress centre of A Coruña (Palexco), congress and exhibitions centre of Galicia, located in Santiago, and the Congress centre Mar de Vigo.
Policymakers have decided to join forces to call attention to citizens, operators in the sector and the competent authorities on the positive economic impact that these installations generate in their local environments, actively boosting sectors such as catering, transport, trade and services in general.
The congress centres are multi-purpose character facilities prepared to host congress, conventions and business meetings of wide format to trade exhibitions, thematic fairs and events of local character and lower dimension.
APCG actions
The APCG will seek to promote the interests of the sector as well as exchange information and experiences among professionals, defending the figure of the congress centre as important of congress and meetings tourism in Galicia.
The main actions will target to boost activity and marketing of the enclosures. Also, it will be putting up promotional activities that will help to project the image of Galicia as a benchmark destination when it comes to holding events.

The Ministry of industry grants the international title to three fairs of Vigo

The designation of international fair granted each year by the Ministry of industry to the fairs organized in Spain has gone to 7 competitions held in Galicia. Three of them take place in Vigo: Conxemar, organized from the Association sector, Navalia, centered in the shipbuilding sector, and Sico, where gather those responsible for the construction. The initiative is an improvement in the tax section both international promotion.

Russia offers to Vigo’s shipyards more than 200 fishing vessels
